Effects of Magnitude and Phase Distortion in 8-PSK Systems on Error Vector Magnitude Measurements

چکیده
This work investigates the effects of magnitude and/or phase distortions, in 8-Phase Shift Keying (8-PSK) systems, due to Gaussian bandpass noise. Analytical expressions are derived to compute the performance of the distorted 8-PSK signals in terms of error vector magnitude (EVM), symbol error rate (SER) and Es/No. The results show that the same value of EVM may result in different SER values depending on the type of distortion. Simulations are carried out to confirm the results of the derived expressions.

Phase Distortion and Error Vector Magnitude for 8-PSK Systems
The demand for higher data rates in mobile communications is leading to the use of higher order modulation schemes, such as 8-PSK. In such systems distortion is a consequence of magnitude and phase disturbances. In this work we investigate the performance of an 8-PSK with phase distortion due to Gaussian bandpass noise, through analytical and simulation studies. Results are presented relating E...
متن کاملEffect of Nonlinear Phase Variation in Optical Millimetre Wave Radio over Fibre Systems
In this paper, we propose an optical millimetre wave radio-over-fibre (mm-wave RoF) system that uses a dual drive Mach Zehnder modulator (DD-MZM), which is biased at the maximum transmission biasing point, to generate an optical double sideband-suppressed carrier. The input to the DD-MZM are binary phase shift keying (BPSK), quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK), 8-phase shift keying (8-PSK) and...
متن کاملDesign of a High Range, High Efficiency Spread Spectrum Transmitter for Audio Communication Applications
This work proposes a direct sequence spread spectrum transmitter with high transmission range and efficiency for audio signals. It is shown that by choosing high process gain for spread spectrum signal the data could reach a range of 55km in the 2.4GHz ISM band. By employing a light modulation scheme, we have a relaxed SNR requirement for having a low bit error rate (BER) which translates to re...
متن کاملExtending the Useable Range of Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) Testing
This paper discusses practical constraints of Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) measurements for high-coverage Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) device testing. Noise, distortion, spurious signals, and phase noise all degrade EVM, and therefore EVM provides a comprehensive measure of an RFIC’s quality of use in digital communications. New wireless standards with large instantaneous bandwidth...
متن کاملA New Method to Study Aggregation Effect of Harmonic Current Emissions in a Wind Farm Based on Type-III Wind Turbine Average Modeling
Assessment of complex harmonic current contribution of each wind turbines at connection point of a wind farm to the grid (primary emission) is presented in this paper. Moreover, contribution of grid background harmonic voltage distortion on harmonic current distortion (secondary emission) of each turbine is also evaluated. Both assessments are represented based on primary and secondary transfer...
